Jewell Trail is completely snow free! The two little spots I stepped over this morning were gone by the time I hiked out. All of the blow downs were easily navigated. It was a gorgeous day above tree line. At the southern end of the Mt. Jefferson Loop, there is standing water, 5-6 inches deep in spots. It could mostly be avoided by rock-hopping beside the trail. The Gulfside Trail on the Washington summit cone (south of the Mt. Clay Loop) also had a good amount of water running down it. Overall, for a spring hike, I thought the trails were in great shape. |
