| Comments: |
There were so many wildflowers blooming about 1/2 mile in to the trail. The forest floor seemed covered in flowers. We saw Hobblebush, Trillium, Trout Lily, Dutchman Breeches, Jack in the Pulpit and lots of little white flowers. There was lots of mud on the trail in the hardwoods. Once we hit the spruce forest it was pretty dry and only a small patch of ice. Great views from Starr King view area. There was a mix of dry trail, mud and knee deep monorail between the 2 mountains. We were able to navigate through the snow easily. A spruce grouse greeted us on the summit of Waumbek. |
