 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
When we got to Orange Road we met a nice guy in a pickup truck who told us he owned the first property along Orange Road and said we could park in the pullout just beyond his camper. This spot was also right across from where Orange Road becomes a dirt two-track. |

We followed Orange Road to a point just beyond where it had basically become a rocky brook. We started our bushwhack gradually up to Melvin Mountain. Nice open, grass and ledge summit with nice view. A few rocks sitting on what must be the RHP. We followed the ledges in the direction of Barber, headed back into the woods following a very overgrown snowmobile trail (?) for awhile before heading through clean woods right up to the summit of Barber: just awesome! Nice ledges and amazing views! There is a sign announcing the mountain and its elevation which was a little hard for us to find as it is not at the highpoint. Instead it is on a tree at the top of the ledge which directly faces Cardigan. Great spot to sit and drink it all in, which we did! We took a heading directly down from the summit through pretty clear woods to Orange Road and followed the stream and the road back to the car. |
