Comments
Comments: Raymond Trail is nice way to summit Pack Monadnock. It isn't a state park trail, sign read that was developed and maintained by the Peterborough Conservation Commission. Nice trail with a soft foot bed and interesting little white upside down V's for arrow blazes. Pay attention where the trail intersects the Wapack Trail maybe a tenth north of the summit because it isn't marked and would be easy to miss. The trailhead sign is down the trail high up in a tree. We climbed the fire tower. Since when there is a mini Park Store on the summit? We headed to the Spruce Knoll Trail to hit the Temple Town highpoint. The view from the knoll is grand and well worth the short detour. We took the red dot blazed Summit Loop trail back and when it intersected the Wapack we turned left and went back to the summit. We retraced our steps back to the intersection and then continued until we found our Raymond Trailhead. Glad we paid attention. We hiked all the way to the bottom of the Raymond Trail and then did a short road walk back to our car. Fun day nabbing new to us trails. Becca is going to be a town high pointer, she is a good sport.
