We skipped the lower end of Austin Brook trail and drove to the end of Mill Brook Road. There is large log yard to park in. The trail heads straight ahead past the boulders over a stream crossing with pedestrian bridge. |

AT between Dream Lake and Gentian is loaded with blowdown and lot of wet spots |

Mosquitoes were thick down low, it was cold and damp so I think it kept the down. |

I expect the waterfalls route (up Peabody and down Dryad will be popular given a recent Boston Globe Article.I would be hard pressed to recommend the loop we did via the AT to Gentian Pond until things dry out on the AT and they go win with chainsaws to clear out the blowdowns. Dryad Falls is definitely rain dependent. It rain until this AM and the flow was steady but not spectacular. |
