Comments
Comments: This may well be the best trail to avoid snow when doing a 4K hike in the coming days. While there is still snow in the woods starting around 3,500 feet, the Carriage Road is generally open enough to get good sunlight.

Snapper Trail was virtually snow free...a couple of tiny patches that one would have go out of their way to step on. Mud and running water in the usual spots, but the trail is otherwise fairly dry.

The Carriage Road only had a few small patches of snow until the stone gateway area, where there was a good tenth of a mile of sustained, multiple feet deep snowpack. There was also plenty of monorail left on the Carriage Road from above the Glencliff Trail junction to treeline. A few puddles as well.

Never used or so much as considered spikes or snowshoes for this route.

I retraced my steps, as the Gorge Brook Trail likely still has plenty of snow and monorail.

Apart from a few trillium, I did not note much in way of wildflowers.

Nice afternoon weather with sunny skies and a light breeze above treeline.
