I thought maybe we could park by the water tower marked on my map but there are just really fancy homes high up on the side of the hill facing Massabesic Lake! We drove down Rattlesnake Road and I think I saw a gated old road, maybe the tractor road but we decided to pull off at that wide gravel shoulder and whack at it. The old road made a nice path and before we got too near the homes we headed into the nice open woods to the summit of Mount Misery, one of the three hills share being the highpoint of Auburn, NH. Becca found the first Lady Slipper of the season we'd seen yet! A few black flies but the wind kept them off of us. (this was our second outing together after Chester and I hit Bedford before meeting up with Becca). |
