Comments: King's Highway, logging road, atv road, bushwhack, snowmobile trail, King's Highway

We started up King's Highway but when the gravel logging road turned right, we decided to continue up it as far as we could. We reached an open area and took a heading toward the mountain. This took us up through the cleared area (which for once really was cleared), following tire tracks to a high point with ledges and amazing views behind us for miles! We then continued following the tracks of an ATV until they turned back to the logged area and started our bushwhack toward the peak which was a slight downhill to a snowmobile trail. We crossed the trail and bushwhacked straight up to the peak. Lots of blowdowns and some small cedar clusters made things interesting. Located the jar on the middle and highest bump. Signed in and headed straight back down to the snowmobile trail. Decided to try the longer, hopefully clear way out using this trail and King's Highway. However, we encountered lots of wet, muddy sections along the way to King's Highway. At the junction, the snowmobile signs pointed everywhere but to King's Highway!? Saw the bridge mentioned by Beth Z. so knew that was the way. This section of King's Highway is becoming overgrown with a few blowdowns but is still obvious enough to follow. Rejoined the gravel road at the turn and headed down to our car. The route we took up was a straight heading, drier, and although you are walking through low grass (probably tic city), we felt it was the easier, nicer, more scenic way to go. It would be worth the climb to the logging area at a minimum!
