Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The MANY crossings of Twin Brook on the north side of Bolles were all easily rocked hopped with care. Most of the Paugus Brook crossings on the south side were bridged, by some occasionally sketchy snowmachine bridges. All other crossings easily hopped.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The maintainers were the only people we saw all day. Good going up to the height of land, they were clearing one blowdown blocking the trail at a stream crossing when we met them. South of the height of land, there was one big stepover, and a crown down in the trail before hitting the Paugus Mill site, plus one section where the stream has rerouted itself to run in the trail for a stretch. Other trails in good shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Nearly none on the north side (except at the trailhead), and plentiful on the south. Black flies mostly.

Comments
Comments: A rewarding out and back, with a few side trail loops thrown in, though climbing back over the ridge on the way out was less fun than we anticipated. Slippery leaves on either side of the height of land on the steep stretches. Nice to not see anyone other than the maintainers, with a full parking lot at the start. What was supposed to be a rest day, turned in to an after noon start, and this. Worth it. Plus we only saw two patches of snow all day, and they were off in little hollows, not on the trail!
