Celebrating the end of road walk season with a trip to Hale for spring. With the early morning rain we figured we would hit a peak that has no views anyway. Mostly wet trail but mud wasn’t bad. After about 3100 feet the monorail begins. We put on spikes and continued on. My husband slipped off the monorail a few times coming down( it was crumbling ). Postholing is still a problem but I don’t think snowshoes would help. The monorail is too narrow and there we spots that you could walk around it. No snow on actual summit. The big cairn is looking big again. |
