Comments
Comments: A very typical spring hike. Things started off dry, then a monorail off and on, very wet trail-water running on trail and mud, when the monorail started to slow me down around 2,280 ft I put spikes on but there were still patches-some long sections that there was no snow. Around 3200ft the snow amounts were more significant. I'm still carrying a my winter pack with crampons, spikes, and snowshoes but I don't recommend snowshoes on this hike at this time-it was very messy and would kill the ankles. I had a 5:15 start so I wasn't sinking on the monorail but it was soft, sticky and slippery (even in traction)-easily sliding off the edges of the monorail which was also breaking/collapsing. I went up North first (my normal preferred route) and it wasn't that bad. Between summits I also didn't think it was too bad-compared to how it has been all winter- but going down South was very messy even with traction. It rained all morning so things were very wet. Back to my car at 10-there was one other car on the lot when I got there this morning and it was still there at my return but I didn't see any humans all day.
