Comments
Comments: Shockingly good trail conditions for the first couple miles. Some of the best I have seen this Spring! Mud developing after the first viewpoint (Mt Surprise? Always a surprise that you can't really find the summit.) We put traction on for the last mile and needed it, monorail mostly stable unless you are a clod like me and just fall off of it.... (Husband postholed dramatically, but only once which is a spring time miracle!) We saw a group of kids in sneakers and they weren't making great headway- while the base conditions look like Spring, the snow is still more than hip deep in places if you take a wrong step. A fresh coating of snow from early in the week was noticeable, but not problematic. Great views, no bugs, and hardly anyone on the hill. Days like this make the mud soaked feet totally worth it!
