Comments
Comments: Gorge Brook fairly dry w/ spotty monorail until around the "last safe water" marker; after that, pretty solid and firm monorail, but narrow -- less than a foot wide, so hard to stay on. Definitely will need light traction. Above treeline had a couple of inches of fresh, tracked powder, summit only a dusting of windblown snow. The drop down to the south peak connector was untracked, surprisingly deep powder, drifting up to a foot in places. The ridge itself had a dodgy monorail covered in a few inches of powder. Top of Carriage down to Snapper was 1-4" of fresh, untracked powder on bare ground, no ice or monorail. Traction definitely helpful, snowshoes would have been nice for that stretch. After Snapper lots of standing/running water and mud. Hurricane back to the juction w/ Gorge Brook was surprisingly dry -- a few wet spots, but generally in great shape.
