I do NOT recommend this trail at this time. The first section starting from the trailhead off of 302 is in good condition, however abruptly starting at the junction with the trail that goes to Mt. Willy, one is confronted with very unstable monorail. As you continue on the trail towards Ethan Pond the snow quickly deepens. Postholing happened nearly every 3rd step. In many places there was deep water below the 2-3 feet of snow, creating a slushy ice bath up to your mid-calf every time you sunk through. The mono-rail is much too narrow for snowshoes, and the snow is too soft to support them. |
