Found a pair of heavy, gray sweatpants halfway up. I doubt they were Larisa's, so I left them at the sign at the TH. |

Ran into Larisa when I pulled in and Rich G. right when I finished. Busy evening on Big T!
Dry trail for 0.8 miles. Intermittent monorail through the last "significant" crossing that can be managed with or without spikes. Once I got beyond the crossing, I threw on my spikes and dodged post holes and mud pits for the remaining 1.6 miles to the summit. The monorail is narrow in places, but often times you can walk next to it to make it easier to negotiate. Things are worse on the ridge--lots of post holes, soft snow, and poor footing. The trail becomes mostly bare from the rocky section and side-hill about 0.1 mi from the summit.
Between Larisa and the dogs going up before me, my two laps, and Rich's trip up and down, we mashed up the potatoes pretty well. It looks like there's still a couple of feet of snow up top, but I think the snow will diminish a lot this week with the warm temps and rain. See Strava for photos. |
