A very typical spring hike. 6am start-dry trail then wet trail, then a small monorail started (avoidable) and was off and on till about 2800ft. We put spikes on-it was nice and solid. Snow depths increased as we ascended, just important to stay on the monorail to avoid postholing still 3ft if not more in places. Wore spikes all the way up Pierce-which was all rock-no snow and all the way up Eisenhower (which was the same) and we backtracked. Things were getting softer as the morning went on but we were back at the car a little after 10am. |
