Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No Problems. Still some ice bridges over smaller crossings. Open water on bigger but rock-hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Pretty clean up to Jackson. Webster Cliff Trail is a disaster! Tried to cross over to Webster. Only made it 0.4 of the way before getting tangled up in the mess of treetops and blowdowns. Wandered around for about an hour trying to find the trail, on again, off again, post-holing up to our crotches often. Not fun. Got frustrated and sick of climbing out of our holes so turned back. Good luck on your attempt!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met 2 dogs on our return trip plus mine. My dog had no trouble staying above ground. Loved the hike!
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: My friend lost her brand new solar charger off the back of her pack. It has an orange boarder/case, about the size of a cell phone. If found please return to the Highland Center.

Comments
Comments: The entire morning was spent in the mist. No views at the top as we were socked completely in. The beginning of the trail is wet and muddy but for the most part avoidable. Remnants of the monorail exist until the junction. No traction needed until this point. Microspikes are sufficient and make for a more efficient trek. Monorail is diminishing but stable. Snow is soft on the sides. Snow bridges over the brooks and streams are stilll stable but weakening fast. Water crossings were not a problem and wont be going forward I don't think. One hiker coming back from attempting the Webster trail said that river crossing was not good, hence her decision to turn back and do the Jackson trail instead.
The trail over to Webster from Jackson, as noted above, is not tracked out at all. Any remnant of prior attempts have become virtually none-existent. And trying to navigate, even with a GPS, through the treetops and blowdowns is annoying and frustrating! Not worth the effort, especially in a slow-drizzle weather day. Postholing up to your crotch is not a pleasant experience. We were soaked by the end of our trek. Good luck if you make the attempt. I hope you are successful.
