Anyone planning on hiking in the Squam Lake area, trying to escape the springtime crud in the Whites? Be advised, the Squam Lake association has closed off most of their area due to mud season. This is forecast to last about 2 weeks.
So how was Red Hill? Awesome. Yep, it's half the height of the lowest 4,000 footer, but it's got great views and a fresh breeze from the fire tower. About as challenging as a walk in the park, but wow, those views! Include a meal or two at any joint in the area and forget all pretense; you've got yourself a fine weekend outing, and one with ample time for a later start. What more does anyone need? Don't abandon your dreams! Sleep in!
Pictures are on my blog. |
