Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Yes some minor brooks are passed at times, and some water on the trails in spots. Some rock hopping and some log and branch use too.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Pond Loop and Orange Diamond have lots of branches, varied in size across the trail, as well as blowdowns from time to time, and water/muddy spots. Moose Mountain Ridge was similar for the beginning, but as you pass the Picnic Trail it gets better/drier and begins to gain the ridge to South Peak. AT was was nicer, rocky, and clear.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My friend's dog was with me, dog sitting for her. She had fun and got muddy.
Bugs
Bugs: A few but insignificant.

Comments: A nice hike from Moose Mountain Lodge/Mill Pond trailhead. You park on the side of a circular area, before those two driveways split. Followed Around the Pond trail to gain access to Orange Diamond and beyond to Moose Mountain South Peak, out and back hike. I recorded on the route back with Gaia GPS. It said 2.07 mi, so 4.14 mi total and a descent of 712 ft , so probably similar for the gain on the way up. Overall a very nice hike and only saw one person, descending by the junction of the Moose Mountain Ridge and AT. I was the only car parked at that trailhead too, some cars parked at the spots down below before the big switchback hill. The lower sections of trail were more watery and muddy as mentioned above. It was nice gaining the ridge and being on the AT, as it was overall drier and rockier with a nice clear trail. Enjoyed a bit of time at the view with the summit sign and watched fog move in the valleys. There's no snow or ice to be found anywhere along my route.
