Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: In the turnaround at the end of Kelley Pond Road in New Hampton. The hiking trails begin 0.3 mi. up the gated continuation of the road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few minor drainages that probably aren't present other times of the year.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: These trails are new, so the footbed is non-existent in places, but blazing is abundant. I actually got a bit confused at one turn along Ridge Trail due to there being too many blazes. Both trails have lots of winter debris and several blowdowns of various sizes, some large. Trail junctions are well-signed.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure.
Bugs
Bugs: Use caution if visiting the Kelly Homestead site. A kiosk here was crawling with large, stinging insects.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: A relatively new trail system in New Hampton. Ridge Trail climbs up a steep-sided ridge and then traverses along the side of it, and Valley Trail returns through a narrow wooded valley along the base of the ridge. For those of us with knee or ankle issues, both trails contain a lot of sidehill walking, which may not be the most comfortable. A loop of around 2 mi. A trail map is still in the works as I understand it.

Both trails were wet with areas of mud, but nothing significant. The junction of Farm Road Trail and Valley Trail was slightly flooded due to a stream crossing here. There are a couple of other trails that provide access to Pemigewasset Lake, but I didn't go that far.
