Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The large water crossing at approximately 1.5 miles on Mt. Shaw still seemed dodgy (although it was better than last week). It was avoidable by bushwhacking up to a logging road and then I bushwhacked up the side of Black Snout, until I hit the Italian Trail about 0.4 miles from the summit of Black Snout.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A ton of blow-downs everywhere. Most were avoidable. There were two high up on the Italian Trail that were challenging.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A confident pup should be able to handle the blow-downs.

Comments
Comments: The upper water crossing on Mt Shaw was still high and moving faster than I felt comfortable with being alone. It is avoidable by bushwhacking up to the nearby logging road. I then bushwhacked my way up Black Snout and finally intersected with the Italian Trail just below the summit.

A lot of blow-downs everywhere and some of them were challenging. A lot of places on the trail were dry, but where there was mud, there was a lot of mud!

Only saw three other people all day ~ right as I was getting back to my car.
