If you're interested in reading more about this trek (and seeing a few snapshots), then you can take a peek at my blog which is referenced at the end of this report. //// I parked at the Fourth Iron area, and then walked the railroad tracks down to a point opposite the trailhead for the Mt. Tremont Trail. With a limited amount of time available, my plan was to merely meander a short distance up the Mt. Tremont Trail along Stony Brook. Since I'd seen no recent reports of anyone having hiked this corridor, I fully anticipated finding an un-trodden trail. However, much to my surprise, it was very well broken out. As is often said about a well-tramped trail, it was almost like walking a sidewalk! I hiked up the trail for a little over a mile. At the point I stopped the well broken trail continued. There is no guarantee that the trail is tramped out all the way to the top of the mountain. But in my opinion, I think the chances are good that it is. |
