Mix of dry, mud and wet areas. Any ice is as you approach Gunstock and then towards Belknap, but it was mostly just overnight freeze up. Some rock crevasses have some ice / snow still. One small monoral left just before Belknap along with an icy mini-pond next to it. Snow on Gunstock is man-made and fading quickly. Boulders along Piper-Round Pond Trail upper section were pretty dry so a nice chance to explore them and climb them, they are pretty neat and the water is running underneath which makes it pretty cool. Rest of trail is dry to wet to mud, but overall was pretty dry despite the rain recently just watch the slabs and wet leaf areas. Couple of porcupines hanging out where Round Pond intersects with the Gunstock Snowshoe area, so use caution there with pups. |
