We started at 8am and the temp was 45 degrees, so we figured we’d start in snowshoes and keep them on the entire hike. The snow was getting soft as the day wore on (65 degrees at the car when we finished at 2pm), but we stayed on top of the snow in our snowshoes; I think Sage sank maybe once.
Saw one fellow coming down as we were heading up, then four more people coming up as we were heading down. Everyone was wearing snowshoes. With the warm temps and the softening snow, anyone trying to barefoot would have likely sunk at least to their knees.
Was one of those rare days where we didn’t have to rush home for some event or meeting, which was nice.
Trip report on Sage’s blog later today. Sage’s White Mountain Treks |
