Parked on Faxon Hill Road shoulder opposite the trailhead. Just enough room. Noticed several pullovers just a bit down the road in either direction that would probably be better. |

Quick hike to a NH 500 highest: 1.2 miles round trip. Enter woods road through a gate and follow it to the bottom of the hill, where the trail turns left into the woods (Clark Robinson Memorial Forest sign). Follow and cross a small brook before heading towards the peak. The trail alternates between flat/easy and steep and rocky. The flat areas tended to be where there is still ice and 3-4" of Spring snow. Luckily the steep, rocky climb to the summit is pretty much free of ice at this time! There are two cairns, the second being the highpoint. 'Oak Hill' is painted on the cairn, there is a wooden sign marking the summit and there is a handle on a tree, to which we added a register jar, at the RHP. Cool and foggy so views not great. Signed in and made our way back to the car. |
