| Comments: |
Rough snowshoe track from parking area to Mt Passaconaway. Snow was somewhat sticky/wet which slowed the hike somewhat. I was able to improve the track to some extent. On the steep sections of the Walden Trail there was some difficulty presented by the snow giving way causing a little backsliding. The surface was covered with ice nodules which were falling from the trees in the windy conditions. Some sections of the Walden Trail uphill from the junction with the East Loop Trail had snow drifts which obliterated the snowshoe track. The trail to the north outlook was not broken out. Dicey's Mill trail looked in better shape than the Walden Trail. There was a light snowshoe track on the East Loop Trail. The Walden Trail south of Square Ledge Trail was not broken out. The Square Ledge Trail east of the junction with Passaconaway Cut-Off had no snowshoe track. There were some evergreen boughs extending in to the Square Ledge trail. The Oliverian Brook Trail was used south of its junction with Passaconaway Cut-Off. Weather over the next couple of days may change these reported conditions. |
