Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail, Crawford Path; down via Davis Path, Crossover, Monroe Trail, and Ammo again.
Too cold to need the snowshoes we brought. Just-sharpened Hillsounds were enough traction, but I'd have preferred real crampons for steeper parts of the descent. Great day to be out in the sun with clouds blowing over Lake of the Crowds Hut and dissipating above the lip of Tuckerman Ravine.
If you're skiing, please read AND BE CAUTIOUS about Mt Washington's Avalanche forecast. A man died on the east side yesterday. We talked to a boarder who'd been with four others. Each of their group set off small slides. |
