| Comments: |
Followed one set of new tracks up to the hut, was passed by one person just before the hut so it's fairly broken out to the hut. I could only find the first two blazes on the climb to Galehead from the hut so my tracks go everywhere looking for the trail. Ended up doing a crap bushwack to the summit. On the way back I sprung two very deep spruce traps. First one I went up to my chest, climbed out and two steps later went up to my chest again but this time as I tried to wiggle/climb out I sunk another 4-5 feet. Snow line was way over my head and I had to throw my pack out of the hole and spend about 10 minutes trying to free my snowshoes from the branches and tamp the snow down enough to get out. Worst one I have ever been in and I was solo except for the pooch. If she had fallen in with me I don't know how I would have got her out. If you head that way you will not miss the hole I created. |
