The trail was packed out the whole way, and microspikes were mostly fine. The Winter route deviated from the actual trail just before the hut. Route finding was difficult in partial whiteout/dense fog above treeline, and visibility was 50 - 100 ft. There was one section before the hut where finding the trail was difficult, and making it from the hut to the summit in the conditions yesterday was an experience... Our GPS devices and knowledge of the terrain were invaluable resources, a d we decided attempting Washington in those conditions was asking for trouble. We returned to the lot via Ammo. |
