Comments
Comments: Great weather today for a hike up Chocorua and Middle Sister. Spikes car to car. We hit Champney Falls loop on the ascent and took the Champney Cutoff over to Middle Sister. The cutoff has seen minimal traffic and I'd suggest snowshoes (though we were able to make due without). Middle Sister to Chocorua summit is packed but tough to follow in spots. It's pretty obvious however where you're headed. The summit cone still has some snow/ice but a lot of exposed rock but we kept spikes on. The descent was quick and by that point in the day the snow was turning to corn snow. I slipped off monorail a couple times and sank to my thighs. If hiking this in warm conditions I'd suggest snowshoes otherwise spikes may do the trick.
