unmaintained portion of Croydon Turnpike and now a snowmobile trail, bushwhack

From our parking location, not seeing much snow we strapped on our micro-spikes and started hiking southeast then turning east on the unmaintained portion of Croydon Turnpike and now a snowmobile trail. After a ½ mile we started bushwhacking southeast in 6 inches of spring snow. As we continued to climb, we turned east towards the ridge and the snow got deeper.

I knew I should have brought my snowshoes as I was post-holing anywhere up to 24 inches. At about 2000 feet of elevation we hit a bump area that was a bit thicker and not so much snow cover. Unfortunately, that didn’t last too long as we dropped down into a col and then a steep up all with deep snow to the recognized high point. We basically followed our foot step back to the car.

Nice quick hike clocking 2.5 miles and 900 feet of elevation gain +/-
