The trail starts down an old woods road which had occasional patches of snow/ice and lots of leaves and small branches. It takes a right turn into the woods where a small creek crosses the road and emerges at a grassy area before joining a second woods road. This road was pretty clear and a good steady climb to the power lines (@.5 mile). Continued along the road which is well posted with yellow No Trespassing signs and an old stone wall for another .5 miles. There was a cairn and a SPNHF sign just above the bank at the end of the stone wall. We headed up through the woods at this point, following the wall until the No Trespassing signs ended. Used the Gaia app to get a heading and went diagonally up to the recognized high point: thanks to whoever hung the bright orange bottle! Went back down pretty much the same route. FYI The bushwhack was through pretty clean woods with alternating leafy, dry ground and 2-3†Spring snow patches most of the way. |
