Be prepared for every type of trail condition except deep snow. Old Halfway House Tr. had lots of ice patches, but they were easily avoidable. The mud was pretty deep in spots.
Good spikes or crampons are a MUST for Side Foot and White Arrow Trails (below treeline). There is a combo of thick ice, with streams of water running underneath, thin ice, mud, collapsing snow bridges, and leaf-strewn trails. I wore my Hillsound Trail Crampons, a bit sturdier than microspikes. Turned around ~0.3 miles from the summit due to high winds.
