 | Comments: |
Lincoln Woods: early was solid, late was starting to soften up. Bare booted this section
Black Pond: some icy spots so I switched to Hillsounds
Black Pond-BW: solid early, softened late: Hillsounds
Brutus-BW: In good shape right now. The steeps, you need to use care here. I used snowshoes up and down for televators and great traction with snowshoe crampons. I know that it must be a bear to break out this section, but once it starts to get very steep, one should use a traversing technique, say 20 to 30 ft each traverse to approach 3400 foot level. I know during snow periods it may not matter, but right now when you are coming down it looks like one HUGE slide. And I`m glad I didn`t. But I was able to break into the hard pack with my snowshoe crampons. BE careful.
Summit Ridge: easy going here with snow a little bit unstable.
