| Comments: |
We started at 6:45am, and the cold morning kept the trail firm enough for barebooting until just after the Sandwich Wilderness Area sign. At that point, the snow was softer so we put on snowshoes. As the day wore on, the temperature rose, so we stayed in snowshoes for the rest of the day to avoid sinking. On our way out, we were starting to sink anyway (in snowshoes) because of the warm midday temps. So right now, the trail is in pretty good shape except for a few snowshoe postholes we made near the end of our journey (close to the trailhead). Didn’t see anyone else all morning. |
