Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Reservation Rd, the road that leads to the southern trailhead for the North Mountain Trail, was getting muddy in a lot of areas, including the steep-ish hill just before that trailhead, so drive carefully.

Water Crossing Notes: The only real crossing, along the South Ridge Trail just past the South Ridge Connector junction, was rock hopped.

Bugs
Bugs: There were a surprising amount of small flies buzzing about. Certainly not a lot overall, but it's an indicator of things to come.

Comments
Comments: The route I took for this hike was about 80% snow and ice free, with the vast majority of it lingering on the cool, shady north sides of both North and South peaks. I used light traction on these areas, but was easily able to bareboot the rest of the hike. Excellent weather to go along with the spring conditions, and lots of people were out enjoying Pawtuckaway State Park and all the trails and terrain it has to offer.

With more mild weather ahead, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire park is free of snow and ice by the end of next week.
