Comments
Comments: A pleasant 1.8 mi. loop through the forest to a nice ledgy viewpoint on the shore of Dead Pond looking up at Pawtuckaway Mountain's Rocky Ridge.

I initially decided to go without spikes, but quickly encountered ice about a quarter mile in, so went back to the car and got them, and wore them for the rest of the hike. Still a fair amount of ice on Howard's Path, mixed with wet, bare ground and minor mud. The viewpoint at the end of the trail is neat, and the area around the pond is reminiscent of Pawtuckaway with lots of boulders. I looped back via Quarry Trail, which seems to be lesser-traveled but has a nice view high above a beaver pond. This trail was mostly bare.

A neat area. As I understand it, there are future plans to connect these trails to the Pawtuckaway trail system.
