Comments: From N Twin Trail head thru to Lincoln woods. broke trail a mile past the start all the at to the low point before bond cliff

Yesterday, N twin, S Twin, West Bond, Bond and Bond cliff which included two gps problems. Saw no one. 16.5 hours. Now only two left for this months grid. We (Smiles and Miles) The Monkeys. I expected a hard day so I brought 25 # of year which included a stove and 4 litters of water. I was determined to complete the mission.

We started at 4 am and soon began breaking trail after a mile from the twin trail head . I d sink in 6-12” One step, then another. Slow and steady climbing up to n twin. Sticky snow stuck to the shoes all the way up to the summit of n twin. We were hiking 1 mile an hour. At n twin since it was colder the top layer of the snow was sticky for only a depth of two inches under this there the 4 feet of snow which was dry. Now we only sunk in 4-6 “. So much easier! Yeah!! When it warms up this could turn to deepen sinking and spruce traps???

At s Twin it was time to charge the phone fir the Guthook ap. I pulled out the back up battery that is good for 4-6 complete recharges of an iPhone. I had a white cord though it was for a USB. Oh no!! So i pulled out the Garmin Montana. Yeah. Back in business. I had the track from the double pemi I did in 40 hours two years ago.

While in the Twin way Bermuda Trangle 80% of time I was able to see the trail the rest of the I thought to check the Garmin to stay on track. 20 minuets from S Twin I looked at the battery indicator and it said 50%. What?? Ok I stopped and tested all six batteries I had where at 50-75%. My solution was to turn the Garmin only on when I really needed it. 15 minutes latter I looked at the screen and I had 4 tracks in opposite directions. I thought oh no!! I turned off the Disturbed artist music and thought how to solve this. The idea was to pick gyout as a destination peak and I turned on the compass feature and in 3 minuets I left the mess and headed out.

Guyot was pretty. The sun was out and west bond looked like a gum drop. I easily reached w bond, bond and b cliff. At bond cliff 1-2 hikers had summited in the last two weeks. The brush was thick, so I began making up all sorts of curse words. At this point only listening to Wired Al made perfect sense. I wear safety goggles because branches make me crazy!! On the wilderness trail after the Franconia Trail I put on Hilsounds and went into crush mode and hiked as fast as I could. Pie was waiting and I was ready to be out of the woods!!
