Comments
Comments: Packed, soft snow all the way up 19-Mile Brook Trail to the hut- snowshoes worked well; and everyone we saw was wearing them. Microspikes would probably result in lots of postholing. Carter-Moriah Trail was fine going up with mountaineering snowshoes, as the soft snow allowed excellent traction, and the televators were a huge help. Plenty of branches in the face approaching the Carter Dome summit, but not too bad considering the 8 feet of snowpack. Panoramic views from Carter Dome (which usually aren't there), with about 0.2 miles of open ridge walking descending from the summit due to the snowpack. No sign of a broken trail towards Mt. Hight, either from Carter Dome or Zeta Pass. Carter Dome Trail reasonably well packed, with plenty of headroom.
