Packed the whole way. 39 when I started and was quickly overheating. Moose tracks entering at around 1 mile and all the way to Starr King. One couple when I came down wearing spikes. I had snowshoes round tripb wanted tobe responsible but spikes may have been fine althoughvery soft in last mile on return. Poles were a waste. Used in only a couple places and carried the rest "just in case." Cleared a lot of dead spruce boughs back to save an eye or two for the next person. First hike of season and found it a bit tough. 2:10 to Starr King. 30 to Waumbek. 25 return. 1:10 from Starr King to car. |
