| Comments: |
The entire route to Owl's Head is broken out well. Some of the snowshoe track on the Owl's Head ridgeline was obscured by snow drift in spots. Only a few small mud spots on the trails which required one step in muck before returning to snow.
Only two challenges to be considered; 1)the Lincoln Brook Trail has some narrow shelf on snow high on the bank above brook where the downhill side is weak and may give way especially if the temperatures warm. 2)There are some steep sections on the Brutus bushwhack where traction is advised.
Wore snowshoes with traction from start to finish. Bare booting not recommended on the bushwhacks when the warm weather commences.
There were great views from Owl's Head to the Bonds and Carrigain to the east and Lincoln and Lafayette to the west. |
