| Comments: |
A beautiful bluebird day with no wind. The trail in the morning was packed powder, loosely consolidated. It was bootable with microspikes but with some minor slipping and sinking. Sections in the sun and at lower elevations became sticky by afternoon as temps rose to near freezing. I used snowshoes on the upper 2/3 of the trail, up and down. They worked a little better than spikes. With rising temps through the weekend, expect to posthole some without snowshoes. |
