The road walk was great this AM as you could walk with no slipping with bare boots though some went in snowshoes. Coming out the road was soft and slick. We followed two with Grace the dog and three young fellas who did the vast majority of trail breaking! Snow was sticky in the sun, heavy and drifted up higher. Only the Ridge was easy walking as it was wind blown. They did a lot of work and we would not have got the peak without their efforts! Even being behind was tough due to the sticky snow balling and making the snowshoes very heavy. Too soft to spike and too unconsolidated. Snowshoes needed at this time (only checked light traction for road walk)
Should be easier after today. Big thanks to the trailbreakers. Also found the piece to repair the broken snowshoe. Temps and low winds were great. Big day for Karen and I. |
