Happy to get this hike in on the last day of winter, beautiful day, great trail conditions except...previous hikers who were butt sliding on the extremely steep section below East Peak made the trail dangerous for those following. I slipped on the way down and slid out of control quite a ways, caught a branch to stop myself thank goodness. PLEASE think about your fellow hikers and don't turn the trail into a luge run! It's challenging enough to get traction on the steps, never mind when it's slick from butt sliding. Otherwise, it was a great day, used microspikes the whole way. Chimney bypass was getting a bit soft from the sun, so used bushwack bypass for descent. Chimney has a huge ice flow, didn't look like anyone went that way. |
