Trails were still firm and nicely packed. Postholes but avoidable as long as you're watching where you are stepping. I wore snowshoes up and across both summits. I took the--off trail--right turn at the fork in the trail (previously mentioned). Plenty of switchbacks and nicely packed that make the ascent a bit easier but I took the actual trail for the descent. The trail was fine-steep, postholes, and narrow but I think being packed down today when it softens by a few other hikers-the actual trail should be fine as well. Spikes were fine but I was out early and back to car by 11 when things were still solid-I'm sure with softening snow snowshoes will be a better choice. |
