Trail is in excellent condition, since the thaw/freeze the trail is solid packed snow. Barebooted all the way to Valley Way Tentsite and then threw my snowhoes on, spikes would have worked better but oh well. Above treeline spikes/crampons highly recommended. I took Star Lake trl to Adams but only made it halfway across before I realized I should have true crampons so I turned back, it's like a glacier on the east side. No visible trail at all and very steep so don't attempt this without proper gear. Once back at the hut I went up Madison and then went back down. Beautiful day, windy but no clouds. |
