Comments
Comments: Windy never let up. Trail is frozen can be bare booted but I used MSRs. Icey in spots, some traction is needed. Trail is in tough shape do to post holing. 6" to 24" holes on the trail & off monorail. Too bad if snowshoes had been used this would be a well packed trail. Only 2 others ahead of me. I turned around after Surprise do to late start & windy conditions. Presidentials were
impressive but you could see the wind blowing snow right over the tops. Sky was dark wind coming right down on me, turned around. If not solo would have kept going. Wind was actually worse going down. Still a great hike.
