Water slightly high, but all crossings were doable. A pole or poles highly recommended for the stream and mud crossings |

A 'crawl under' blowdown located a few minutes from the trail head on Hancock Notch trail. Otherwise the trail is well maintained. |

There were no particular issues for a dog in good physical condition, although if the dog fears crossing streams this will be a difficult hike as there are many crossings. |

| Comments: |
I went up the south side today for the first time. Most people seem to go up the north side. It is definitely easier to do the link between the two peaks by going in this direction. The climb up to the north peak from the South Peak is very gradual. The descent from the North Peak does have a lot of loose rock so care needs to be taken. But it was not all that difficult. The major downside is the stiff climb up from the stream to the junction. All in all the direction chosen is really pretty much of a toss up. |
