| Comments: |
Gate closed down by the paved road. Very icy parking areas.
Traction all the way up and down. Snow everywhere except near summit where I encountered mixed ice and rock. Posthole every ten minutes or so, but mostly I was able to stay on top of the packed trail. Brought snow shoes but never used them. Snapper had very little sign of travel. Gorge Brook and Carriage had more travel signs. High winds and icy and cold on the summit, otherwise did most of the trip in a single layer. Goggles and multiple layers helpful near summit.
Very few other parties. Departed parking area about 11 am. Lots of parties parking and getting ready to hike by then. |
