Incredible day to be out! One look at the forecast and I knew I'd be a fool not to venture into the mountains. The plan was Galehead and maybe South Twin depending on how I was feeling. I made great time to Galehead hut, bare-booting about 4 miles in before snowshoes went on for the rest of the day until the road walk.I slack packed up Galehead and had a nice lunch afterwards. Up I went to South Twin and the weather was so gorgeous once I was up there. Looking at North Twin I just couldn't pass it up. I went for one, maybe two and ended up with three! Well defined snowshoe track but the ridge from South to North Twin can be iffy to follow. The track deviates from the actual trail in spots. As has been the case lately, bring a hard shell to protect inner layers from the branch battles. |
